From the moment we stepped through the doors, it felt like entering another era, where the history of the Disponent Villa comes alive. This building, with roots in the early 20th century, breathes history in every corner. Each room seems to tell stories of the past, and the atmosphere is warm, inviting, and full of charm. You feel immediately welcomed – a sentiment amplified by the owner’s presence and the incredibly service-minded staff. Here, guests are treated with royal care.

And the food – what a Christmas buffet! Everything is homemade and locally sourced – a true celebration of Småland’s craftsmanship and traditions. The salmon melted in your mouth, and the herring… there were so many varieties it was hard to pick a favorite. Each bite was a burst of flavor, a reminder of how herring should taste when made with love and expertise. The incredibly tender ribs were another masterpiece that raised the bar for what a Christmas buffet can be.

As for the drinks? A Christmas soda from a local brewery that was the best I’ve ever tasted – perfectly balanced between sweetness and spice, making every sip a delight.

The grand finale was the dessert buffet, which was simply outstanding. Homemade treats of the highest quality and a cheese platter that was absolutely divine – a perfect conclusion to this remarkable dining experience.

Villa Gransholm is a place where food, atmosphere, and service come together to create an unforgettable experience. It feels like tasting the soul of Småland, surrounded by the history and warmth of this unique Disponent Villa. Absolutely amazing place ! This is such a nice country hotel : this was our first stop on a round trip through Sweden and we were looking for a place which would put us immediately in a Swedish ambiance - and this is exactly what we got ! Great food, the best service, fantastic surroundings and typical Swedish decor all around !! Thank you all ❤️

Lovely park, great staff, yummy 3 dishes dinning, old fancy decoration with a feel at home atmosphere. Local food ingredients based on season, nice owner. Good selection of beverages.

We’ve been here 14 years ago when we were on a canoe trip. The hotel and the restaurant are absolutely beautiful and the service as well as the kitchen are excellent. We came back today on another canoe trip and unfortunately the hotel was fully booked. Nevertheless, the hotel staff was extremely friendly, refilled our fresh water supplies, and even gave us some freshly baked cake as a gift. Outstanding!

Wonderful house and garden, though located a bit outside the beaten path. Nice historical rooms, with quirks. Service was great and friendly (which in my experience are not always synonymous so I really appreciated it). The food was outstanding.

Stayed here for one night. Very nice and charming hotel with just the right level of "rustic charm" while still being well maintained. The stay included dinner and it was excellent! The breakfast was also very nice. Staff was helpfull and attentive. ||||The area just around the hotel may be a bit "unaccessible but you will find the national park around Åsne lake near by.

Warm welcome, spacious bedrooms with comfortable beds, very clean with tasteful decor. Our visit was topped off with fabulous breakfast. Travelling around Sweden and Denmark and so good to stay in a lovely hotel. Will book in on next trip and would definitely recommend.

This place is exceptional. The hotel is traditional Swedish build with spotless en-suite rooms. It is such a refreshing change from the modern day modular soulless places that you find around the globe. The hotel has a fantastic relaxed atmosphere and was perfect for our group of 20 from England. The surrounding area is fantastic for walking, cycling and canoeing. The highlight of the place though is the food. Without a doubt the best food that you will get in Sweden or anywhere else for that matter. I suggest that you try this place, you will not be disappointed.
