Can confirm that the place was used as an air base during the Cold War

This was an incredibly beautiful and welcoming place for horse lovers, and the atmosphere was as tranquil as could be for as many horses as are here. The horses numbered plenty and there were separate divisions of them, where certain groups would be, foals and all. We drove through the winding countryside roads that snake and thread through the entire area, and were able to at times, step out of the car and approach the horses by the plastic fencing. The very kind assistant that was feeding them only asks that you keep your motorcar engine to idle or off when you step out, particuarly during feeding time when they can tend to get a bit more riled up or testy. But, these were all good natured horses very comfortable with people, and it was evident as we approached them. Of particular notice to us and of sweet sentiment, was a mother horse and her young foal that looked as though she had been birthed in the spring time. While the foal was a tad shy and understandably suspicious around people, we all backed far enough away to engender a sense of comfort and safety for her mother. Her mother was drinking from a bath tub trough and was able to look up and she allowed petting. The curious foal was more hesitant, but we didn't want to spook her, so simply let her come as close as she wanted (or didn't want) to the fencing. After a few beautiful pictures with the two of them which turned out staggeringly lovely, we drove by the duck pond. This was a very relaxing mini environment teeming with some aquatic zest and the ducks swam, ducked in and out if the water, and looked our way. They were very cute and good for kids to see. Further up the trail, we noticed some horseback riding lessons and horses being walked up the trail. After quietly driving by to a slow crawl, we turned to go near a large gathering of black and brown horses. They looked muscular and very healthy and like something out of an old Western movie. It was nice to know they're being treated and accommodated for so richly and healthily. We snapped a few pictures of them in their late summer romp and then travelled back down the hill. The dog was barking up a frenzy inside the car, so we tried to be very mindful of her excited enthusiasm at wanting to play with the horses, which of course she couldn't. All in all, it was a really gorgeous place and certainly a landmark in the area. The horses are maintained very well and in very proper conditions, whereby they have excellent pastoral access in abundance and are treated very well. The horses all seemed to get along and were very playful with each other. The feeder/Wrangler was very friendly to us and we were able to watch her feed the horses up close. You can certainly tell that they get very good attention with a level if lovable scrutiny. While we didn't stay a super long time, it was truly a great experience as an animal lover and an appreciator of nature. The countryside was brimming with green and trees and the trip there was just as lush an experience as the destination. All in all, if you are looking into horseback lessons, or simply wish to see beautiful horses up close, then this is a terrific place to do so. It's worth the trip and isn't terribly far from Uppsala and not terribly far from Stockholm. Great experience and very favorably recommended for animal and nature lovers.
