It's alright, does what you need

We gathered at Rörsjöskolan where we then took a bus to the Children's Village in Hästveda. My brother and I were there for 1 month in a few summers at, among others, Bedastugan and Ingridstugan, the parents were allowed to visit once during this month and every Saturday we were allowed to bring out our candy that we had brought with us from home or that we got when the parents visited. Every Sunday all the children who were standing in line with their cottage names in front gathered around the flagpole at a larger place by a cottage. So nice to think back that this nice children's village is still there..You had to look for a place and stay there until you turned 11. It's been 60 years since we were there

Here I was at a school holiday camp for a whole month in July 1955 and a couple more summers It was absolutely fantastic to meet many other children the same age as you played with We learned to swim in Lursjön and a lot of other things that we were taught to do Lived in halls with several sleeping buddies Girls by themselves and boys by themselves There was a gap in the wall to the teacher's room so she could keep an eye on us The food was usually served outside on long tables and benches Yes, there was a forest with blueberries that we picked and ate We got to experience a lot of other fun You were there for a whole month then you went home by train to your mother and father Sure you could miss home every now and then but for the most part it was good. I don't think there are more children's camps now It's a shame because you certainly learned a lot that mom took in even if you missed home from time to time I often think about that time Today I am 75 years old and remember it most with great joy ❤️ Jane Rosen ex-Eldh
