Café Mormor

I don't know how common it is that people manage to make their dreams come true. Annica Larsson has done it and started the nostalgic cafe Cafe' Mormor. There she serves coffee in a retro environment a la the 50s & 60s. When the village's old post office became vacant, Annica and her husband bought the house. A few years later, (in 2017 according to reports), she started Cafe' Mormor. My wife and I visited there today and we were pleasantly surprised. A little gem among all the summer cafes that appear during our short summer. Very good coffee and friendly service despite many coffee cravings. In the summer of 2025, Cafe' Mormor will be open on Wednesdays during July & August. Opening hours: 12-16. Unfortunately, slightly limited opening hours, but this is just a hobby that Annica runs alongside her regular job. Many would certainly wish that Cafe' Mormor was open more days a week during the summer. And why not during other parts of the year? If you, who are reading this, are passing by Gunnarsbyn and feel like having a coffee, I recommend a visit there if the café is open. When you have finished your coffee, you can take a look at all the retro stuff there. A very nice experience.

A fun cafe-flea with retro things and style! Note: they don't take cards here and as a tourist you need contacts or swish, and they are only open on Wednesdays, at least when we were there. We don't know anything about the food as we weren't allowed to buy anything. The service was a bit inattentive, you had to ask if anyone worked there, and he sat to the side the whole time while we stood at the counter 😅 Feel free to combine your visit with Forsbergs gamla handelsbod which is SO worth a look!
