This café has several unique features that made the visit fantastic! The incredibly spacious historic venue has high ceilings and a stage at the back. Tables laid out in vintage camping style with nice table settings. The reasonably priced buffet (200 per person) had dishes popular in the 80s such as cheese balls and meringue swish with banana. It looked very festive and delicious! The home-cooked food with flatbread naturally appealed to my mother-in-law and the home-rolled meatballs to the 12-year-old. The chanterelle sauce was delicious! When the hosts realized that I have celiac disease, I was met with great consideration – they offered variations on the desserts without, for example, sponge cake. After the meal, we took part in the fine lectures about the construction of the power plant. I think some of the exhibition material was original from the time when the power plant was built. The café is apparently run without profit. A very nice excursion! Highly recommended, especially if you like vintage/history and good food cooked from scratch!
