Hotel Esplanade

Fint läge, stora luftiga rum. Fin frukost och ett perfekt läge. Det var tyst och vi sov gott. Tyvärr fanns det ingen vattenkokare och kaffe på rummet vilket drar ner upplevelsen. Att behöva gå ner i pyjamas för att skvalpa upp med koppen till rummet, nej tack.

Having spent a lot of time in Hyatt/ Sheraton/ Radisson-type hotels recently, I was looking for a hotel with charm and character for my recent long weekend in Stockholm. Well, this hotel has both. From the cosy lounges and their old-school furniture and elegant stained-glass windows to the beautiful, polished wooden floors, I was half expecting Hercule Poirot or a dowager duchess or two to pop up. The staff were without exception friendly and helpful, even seeing us into our taxi on the way back to the airport. The breakfast was varied and generous and I loved that there was free tea, coffee and biscuits throughout the day (and night). The hotel is located very centrally, right on the water and within easy walking distance of the old town and the ABBA museum (our main reason for going to Stockholm). My only criticisms are to do with my room. As it was on the ground floor, I didn't want to open the door to the outside at night, but could have benefitted from a small window for ventilation. The pillows were a bit soft, but maybe that's a Swedish thing. All in all, I would definitely go again, but would opt for a room higher up with a view/ balcony.

Stayed here for a couple of nights. The entrance can be a bit confusing just going off the main strip without much signage in the day to stick out. This place is not a very handicap friendly building just due to the old age of the building. The rooms are very period fitting and they do wonders for what they are. Great breakfast selection. Nice place to stay.
