A hidden gem among the sheepfolds and limestone houses in Buttle. Konst & Kakor is a place that has to be experienced to be understood. We were there the last weekend before they closed for the season, a quiet afternoon with only one other party in the place. As soon as we stepped inside, we were struck by the unique contrast between the rustic, converted stable and the stylish interior. Style, art and craft in perfect balance with the wooden beams in the ceiling - everything is connected, down to the smallest detail. The menu is small, but everything we ordered was a hit. The homemade ice cream was among the best I have ever eaten! I chose pistachio, strawberry cheesecake and almond and cherry. All the flavors were creamy, balanced and made with a clear sense of quality. We had poppy seed cake, blueberry cake and a perfect little princess pastry with that. Every bite tasted like something you would find in a world-class artisan bakery. The place is run by a mother and daughter, and it was the daughter who served us. She was genuine, passionate and warm. She could answer everything we asked, from ingredients to how the place came to be. It is obvious that the entire concept is created with flair, heart and pride. Konst & Kakor is a place that has something for everyone, whether you are a foodie, art lover, interior designer or family with children. The back also hides a charming play area with a toy café and trampoline, a little paradise for children. I would undoubtedly take a big detour to come here again, and I would have happily paid double for the experience. One of the absolute highlights of the summer.
