My name is Alessandro Del Vescovo, I was born and live in Italy, I work in a hospital as a nurse, I practice Hatha Yoga, and I follow the teachings of Paramahansa Yogananda, who wrote a world-famous book called Autobiography of a Yogi and founded an association called the Self-Realization Fellowship for the teaching and dissemination of Kriya Yoga (Raja Yoga). Now, I want to tell you a rather unusual story. About 8-10 years ago, I had a dream. I dreamed that I was working in an Emergency Room and found an elderly monk on a stretcher, resembling a Tibetan monk. He was ill and seemed to be on the verge of death. At a certain point, he grabbed my arm and said, "Yoga Kendra! Yoga Kendra! Remember Yoga Kendra!" When I woke up, I searched for the term "Yoga Kendra" on the internet, and a yoga center in Malmö, Sweden, appeared. In the following days, I discovered that Kendra is a female name, but nothing more. About three years ago, my niece Jessica moved to Copenhagen, Denmark, for work, and I found out that it was very close to Malmö, Sweden. On March 27th, my relatives and I traveled to Copenhagen to visit my niece and explore the city. At that point, I couldn’t pass up the opportunity to visit Malmö and inquire about the meaning of Yoga Kendra at the Yoga Kendra center in Malmö. On March 29th, we went there, and I had a truly incredible experience. The only information I had was that the center was open. I hadn’t booked a yoga session, nor did I know what activities were taking place. When we arrived, we saw that we were just in time to participate in a Gong Bath and Mystical Sounds event led by Mr. Marlone (I hope I got the name right; I apologize if I made a mistake), and we decided to join. It was a very powerful and evocative experience, which left a strong impression on me for the rest of the day and the days to come. A heartfelt thank you for the kindness and hospitality we received from the Yoga Kendra Center, Mr. Marlone, and a lady named Cristiana, of Italian origin, who I believe lives in Malmö. We met her on that occasion, and she helped us take part in the event. Finally, I’d like to share the meaning of Kendra, which I found on Google: "Kendra is also a very rare English surname, mainly found in Yorkshire, which was briefly adopted as a male first name in the early 19th century. It may derive from the surname MacAndrew or from the ancient Anglo-Saxon female name Cynethryth (from cyne, ‘royal,’ and thryth, ‘strength’)." Thank you all.
