The Swedish welfare state is one of the greatest achievements of this country so rich in innovation and vision. Anyone in the area should definitely take the opportunity to visit Erlandergården and learn more about Tage Erlander, Sweden's "tallest" prime minister in terms of both years in office and height. The museum has been curated with great care and attention to detail and also features a small café where you can enjoy a fika (Swedish coffee break). Brochures are available for English- and German-speaking visitors to guide them through the exhibition (though apps like Google Translate are also recommended, as it can translate surprisingly well using the camera image). The highlight, besides the exhibition, is undoubtedly Tage Erlander's school and childhood home, furnished with original pieces, which can be visited as part of the included guided tour. This tour is led by the delightful and incredibly dedicated director of the museum, with whom I would have loved to continue my conversation – I wish my English, or better yet, my Swedish, were good enough. Especially in this day and age, museums like this one, which strive to convey knowledge of the past in an engaging way and ultimately spread the message of democracy and civic courage, are wonderful little havens that one can only support with joy! I hope I will be able to return someday.
