I post this review with a heavy heart, but you people need to do better and keep your greed in check. The area is administered by T. Rosen Marin & Racing AB which, like any other private company, has profits in mind. Thus, I believe paying customers are treated well, but if you are into wild camping and visiting the area without planning to hire their services, forget about “allemansrätten” or basic human decency. Last year we were camping across Gräsö and at some point we decided to stop in Rävsten for the evening. We saw “bastu” signs in the area and after little research we discovered that the place has saunas, a large one and a small one that can be booked between 16:00 and 22:00. We jumped at the occasion and we booked the small sauna for 22:00 for which we paid 200 SEK. Everything went well and we had a good time. We took note of the rules and we decided it’s wiser to chop wood in the morning as well as clean the area properly, as it was dark by the time we closed the sauna. We took what seemed like a reasonable decision given the fact that based on the information on the website the next slot in which people are expected at the sauna was 16:00 the next day. At 9 in the morning I was greeted by a hyperventilating lady, Kerstin Söderberg, who asked me if I am the one who used the sauna last night. I explained that yes, it was me and my partner and we are working on replacing the logs and cleaning the areas. She asked me if we slept inside the sauna. (Lady, only because we chose to camp off the grid and not use your accommodation services it does not mean we are homeless.) She told me we brought dirt into the sauna. (The only dirt that might have gotten inside is the one that sticks to one’s feet after going in and out several times, something that indeed must be cleaned after oneself, but is nothing unusual for an outdoors sauna.) She demanded to see where our tent is. (I invited her to walk up the forest and she’ll find it.) She demanded we pay extra for tenting. (I explained we plan to do no such thing, since we have not used the designated camping area, but the FOREST for setting down our tent. She said it doesn’t matter since we used the “facilities”. I did not even know what these facilities are or where to find them.) I apologised for the lack of thorough cleaning and for not replacing the logs, I explained that it was dark by the time we stopped using the sauna, but none of it was done in bad faith, as it is 9 in the morning and we are already working on it. Until 16:00 when the sauna reopens everything will be left in perfect condition. She lectured me some more and told me that the sauna must be ready before 16:00 anyway, if their guests want to use it. She ended up insisting on cleaning the sauna herself and we replaced the logs. I don’t know folks, if you don’t want people trespassing, put up signs that say so. Otherwise don’t treat people who don’t throw money at you like uneducated chimps. The area is otherwise charming, but go find similar, without the fuss.

Three stars because of the very nice staff, otherwise it would be a two. The idea with having a girls only room is great, but the room is quite packed, one gets more focused on not bumping into others than on one's own training. The lifting area is a catastrophy. Please replace the foamny flooring with some hard surface. The lifting area should not have any sort of cushioning. The weights are all small diameter plates, so if one is used to standard plates, one would need to even out the difference by using the frame of the rack such in the picture. Otherwise the equipment is good and well mentained.
