Amazing stay with a Baltic Sea view I stayed at Story Hotel Malmö, which opened in 2023, and had a fantastic experience overall. As a Hyatt Explorer (Loyalty Explorer), I was upgraded to a King Ocean View room facing the Baltic Sea, which was a real highlight. Unfortunately, I visited during very cold weather when everything outside was frozen — but even then, the view was beautiful. The hotel staff took great care of me and made the stay very comfortable. The room was spacious yet cozy, well designed, and included a small fridge with two complimentary bottles of sparkling water (though it would be nice to have a choice between still and sparkling). The lighting in the room could have been a bit brighter, but that’s a minor detail. There’s a salad and smoothie spot right next to reception, which is super convenient, and a sushi restaurant on the rooftop that’s definitely worth visiting. Other restaurants are easily accessible by Uber, and ordering in is simple as well. One small downside: while the hotel does offer room service on paper, in reality you need to pick up the order yourself from the restaurant, which is a bit disappointing. Additionally, room service orders can’t be charged to the room, which felt slightly odd and inconvenient. The building is shared with other commercial spaces, which is slightly unfortunate but doesn’t really affect the hotel experience. Also, the floor doors lock at night and require a room key to access — not an issue, just a bit unexpected. Overall, an excellent stay, and I would absolutely come back — especially in the summer, when the surroundings would really shine.
Great museum with something for everyone! The exhibits are well divided into technology history, maritime history, Planet of Ideas, and a full submarine. The technology section was interesting, with old cars, planes, and some really cool mopeds. The submarine was the highlight — you can actually walk through it, pass through the cabins, and get a very realistic feeling of what it’s like to be inside one. Super immersive and memorable. Perfect for families too: there’s a children’s picnic area and a maritime playroom. Entry is free for kids and young people (0–19 years), which is amazing. Tickets were about 120 SEK for two adults for the whole day, excellent value for money, and there’s also a group ticket option. One small tip: a lot of families arrive with strollers, so the cloakroom can get quite crowded at busy times — worth avoiding if you can or planning around peak hours. Very close to Malmö Castle, so it’s easy to combine both in one visit. Highly recommended for a fun and educational day out!
Restaurant Osaka is a very small and cozy Japanese spot with only around six tables and seating for roughly 16 people, which gives it an intimate, no-frills feel. The menu is quite limited, but that also keeps things simple and straightforward. The restaurant is run by just two staff members, and they were genuinely nice, welcoming, and attentive, which really added to the overall experience and made the place feel warm and personal. I ordered the chicken curry, which came as a combo with a small bowl of miso soup and a soda of choice. The curry itself was comforting and satisfying—nothing fancy, but warm, filling, and well-balanced. The miso soup was light and pleasant, a nice way to start the meal. The total price for the combo was 139 SEK, which feels reasonable considering it includes soup and a drink, especially in Malmö. Overall, Restaurant Osaka is a good option if you’re looking for a quiet, casual Japanese meal in a small setting. It’s not the place for a big variety or a long stay, but for a simple, cozy bite with friendly service, it does the job nicely. 🍛
