We arrived late in the evening and parked our rental car in the hotel parking area. There was no mention of paid parking during check in, nor did they ask for our license plate and we missed the signs in the lobby. However, when we left two days later, there was a private parking ticket (kontrollavgift) of 500 SEK on the car. A hotel charging for parking is strange to me, but not paying was an honest mistake. They had failed to mention it and we missed the signs. How easy would it be to simply settle it by allowing us to pay the normal parking fee? Yet, instead they have outsourced parking management to a few shady companies (Avarn, Hojab, SVEA) and subsequently claim they can not settle it a reasonable way, because those companies do not allow it... Apparently this is legal in Sweden. So I ended up paying to prevent further escalation and extra fees through the rental company. But I will do my best never to book with Scandic again. Ps. The rooms are basic and a bit worn down, but overall acceptable for a short stay. The location is convenient for a visit to Täby, but don’t go there for the view.
