A quiet woodland place at the water's edge that is surprisingly close to the attractive and bustling harbour town of Västervik. You can bring a tent or caravan, or stay in a wooden dormitory (with private or family rooms but shared showers and toilets), with a shared kitchen and common room in another building. Note: No towels provided, so be sure to bring your own. You will be expected to clean your room when you go, but there were summer staff (volunteers?) cleaning all the common areas. It's child-friendly, with its own place for toddlers to paddle and a football field for older children. Canoes and bikes for hire and an easy walk through the woods to a lake that looks good for a swim. (I wouldn't go for a swim beside the hostel because I don't like seaweed and the water looked murky, but others seemed to be OK with that.) I thought it overpriced considering that it's a campsite/youth hostel, but we didn't find anywhere cheaper in town, only B&B or hotels 50+ km outside town (some in the archipelago). This is just 10 mins by car outside town. Note also that they don't take credit cards. Swish or cash only.
