Beautiful coast!, amazing archipelago!!, you would thinks tourists are offered easy cycling possibilities.. well, NO. Two summers I had been wanting to rent an electric bike and discover the green paths alongside the iodium magnitude, I had to give it up. We spot some blue bikes as pictured on the visitkarlskrona website, but were told these were for the city’s employees use only. Moveabout.se (station is just off the Turist Centre) offers decent hour rental prices, which you would expect in a city, but you are bound to take a monthly subscription of 10€ for the service, not a option for tourists thus. Rentbike.se can be booked for half or a full day, but no bikes were available in Karlskrona on that August day, neither is there any today. Blekingetrafiken then seems like the best option, it’s a public service!, but I couldn’t find any possibility to book a bike on the app. The Tourist bureau personal is not aware of how this should happen (to not say downloading and using this app is not part of their training), and could also not find relevant info on this service in the 1kg printed timetables’ booklet. Oldskool way then: rent a bike from a sports shop ! 80€ a day, no thank you, but at least the service there is a reality, and the shop personal is nice and funny. Some campings on the islands rent bikes, but that means you would have to cycle on a 70km/h road to reach the city/coast tracks. Wondering about another activity, i.e. visiting Kungholmsfort, we were told that our booking would have to be paid via Swish. The personal was not aware visitors who are no residents on the Swedish territory, and have no registered Swedish mobile number, don’t have access to Swish payments (I don’t remember exactly if cash is accepted). Moreover, I don’t get why the office has moved from the Central Square to the docks. They are probably wondering themselves, as on the Stortorget there was a clearly visible reduced info point = (1 student + 1 computer + a few leaflets) standing under a white open tent, from which you are redirected to ‘the main office’. Sad, sad, sad.

Overcharming! Been twice: first time for a fika in the delicately decorated café/restaurant, I couldn't help looking around the whole place, the hundreds of cooking books and the craft department. I started my second visit by taking the 2.2km walk on the property with my daughter and my dog. The Korean barbecue we had this evening was taking place in the garden house : not only was the food delicious and original for Sweden, but also we got to discover the ingredients we were served all growing on site (except meat and fish) and the cute touch Timjan gives to the plantations. The service: TOP!, supa nice people :)
Not convinced at all. I do understand that Swedish families drive there for a real hamburger, but I don't see in what being shouted a number by a girl running hamburgers one after the other, having signs here and there indicating 'DON'T' and sitting in an outdoor place looking like a 'bric-à-brac' is an enjoyment. The decor inside is truly 50, but there is so much that you wonder where people should stand or sit. Outside there is no style at all: neither Swedish, neither American (the little napkins, the sauces, the free water, ...) and no background music. The welcoming/service is unpleasant, and the loppis overpriced. The pastry is very good though.
