Update since my last review 5 months ago. I found out from the new workshop that Meca had charged for examining the timing belt. I have a diesel with a timing chain! That service has so far cost me about 10,000 SEK in addition to the service cost. Let's see what other surprises they have in store... And Meca customer service STILL hasn't contacted me, even though I filled in the form the first day when they tried to sell me expensive parts that I obviously did not need. All talk and no action. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Update since my review 3 months ago. In 3 months, I still have heard _nothing_ from MECA customer service, whom I contacted directly after the incident. Today I went to a (different) workshop to check my brakes, which were making horrible noise. They quickly confirmed that the brake pads on the two rear wheels had NOT been changed and were completely worn down! One brake disc has even been damaged and now I'm facing an unnecessary cost due to MECA's neglect. When I asked MECA Lund to change the break pads 3 months ago, they apparently sent me a quote ONLY on the front break pads. When the brake pads on the rear wheels were completely torn down, this came as a total surprise, as I had asked explicitly for ALL of the brake pads to be changed! It is interesting that they wanted to (quite unnecessarily) fix the brake discs. But they failed to change the rear brake pads - which I _explicitly_ asked them to change! With their disrespectful behavior, they put me and my family at unnecessary risk (the new workshop said I could under NO circumstances drive home in my car, especially not with the kids in the car), costs and trouble. And MECA Lund of course do not take ANY responsibility. I would advise anyone to think at least twice before visiting MECA Lund!!! -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Today I caught MECA with their hands in the cookie jar, trying to scare me into a costly and completely unnecessary repair. Their unpleasant and disrespectful manner of dealing with my complaint says everything a customer needs to know: This morning I came back from my appointment for shifting the brake pads at MECA. They tried to convince me that the brake discs were in desperate need of replacement. Just did service with the same MECA workshop a few weeks ago - no mention of this at all! Also did inspection at Besikta next door to the workshop a few weeks ago, they said the car looked great! I asked the same inspector today if there could be any substance to MECAs claims. He was positive the car was fine and confronted the MECA workshop about them questioning the quality of his work. In addition to MECAs dishonesty and disrespect for customers, the shifting took 1.5 hours instead of 30-40 mins. I hear Therns motor across the street are both great and honest, will go there instead in the future. In response to MECAs response to this review: I have already contacted MECAs customer service this morning and still no response late evening. With all due respect, I do not expect MECA to change their 'business model' consisting of scaring customers to costly unnecessary repairs just to increase their own profit. Dishonesty like this is not cured by me talking to their customer service. MECA needs to change their whole manner of thinking and basic values of honesty, respect and integrity.
