My wife and I really enjoyed our day here. In the morning we rented ice skates. The guy helped us find suitable ice skates and adjusted the straps for us. The ice skates are pretty basic, but they did the job fine. Apparently they are getting new ice skates soon, so if you’re lucky you will have better skates than us. We really enjoyed skating the 9km loop around the lake. There are some scary dips in the ice, but that’s normal for a nature ice rink. The pizzas after the ice skating was the main highlight. The German guy behind the counter in the restaurant was very welcoming and helped my wife with her allergies. He asked the kitchen about the vegan cheese ingredients. The cheese was fine for my wife to eat, and it was really delicious. It’s so nice that the vegan cheese is homemade. The vegan pizzas were delicious with lots of tasty vegetables. All in all we had a fabulous day!
Nice petrol station with a shop selling all the essentials. The lady behind the counter was kind and helpful. My wife and I paid 50 SEK each for a shower, which is a very reasonable price in my opinion. The shower facilities are fine, nothing fancy, but exactly what we needed after a couple of days of cross country skiing. We didn’t realise that the shower was free if you had food at the restaurant (Docksta) for at least 75 SEK. We had a delicious dinner at Docksta, and the lady at the petrol station was kind enough to give us a refund for shower payment. I highly recommend the food at the restaurant, it really is delicious, and a nice cosy vibe. For any campervans passing through, there’s a water tap outside the shower area to refill your water. The service station seems to have everything here!
As a vegan it can be hard to find cafes and restaurants that sell delicious vegan sweet treats. But, Laure’s Fika is an exception, her vegan croissants are amazing!! I today had the vegan semla croissant, it was the best croissant I’ve ever had. The semla was so creamy and yummy! I will definitely be back to try the pain au chocolate with semla. The service was excellent as well. My wife has a legume allergy, and Laure explained that the they use lentil cream in the vegan semla, so my wife unfortunately couldn’t try the most delicious croissants. If you’re in the area, you should definitely try some tasty pastries at Laure’s Fika.
We had such a delicious dinner here this evening. As vegans, it can sometimes be difficult to find yummy food at restaurants. But at Docksta Baren we absolutely loved our dinner. The vegan steak and chips were really tasty! The vegan steak is homemade, and so much better than any shop bought vegan steak. We paid 145 SEK for our generous portion of chips and vegan steak. For this price you also get to help yourself at the salad bar, and enjoy a bowl of soup. And afterwards you get a nice cup of coffee and a cake or biscuit. They even had a vegan sweet treat which was amazing and unexpected! I think the price is cheap for the quality and amount of food that you get. The lady serving us was really kind and helpful. My wife has several allergies, and the lady serving us was kind enough to check all the ingredients for my wife. The service really was excellent!

The customer service at Allsport really is exceptional! Since arriving in Sweden on Wednesday, we struggled to find a ski shop to help us with fitting new bindings on our cross country skis. My wife rang the Allsport shop on Friday afternoon regarding new bindings and shoes for our cross country skis. The owner of the shop was incredibly helpful and said we could drop off our skis the following day. Even though he wasn’t working at the weekend, he specially came to the shop for us to fit the new bindings on our skis. This is really kind and very much appreciated. The girl serving us at the shop was also very kind and helpful. She helped us choose the right cross country shoes. She was very patient with us, as we tried on lots of different shoes. We never felt rushed to make a decision which is nice. We also thought the price of everything we purchased was pretty reasonable. In the last couple of days we have skied nearly 50km, and we are very happy with the bindings and shoes. We can’t fault the service of this shop, it deserves more than a 5 start rating!

Excellent gym! It has everything you need for a great workout. The owner was incredibly helpful, and showed us round the gym before starting. It was also easy to communicate with the owner by phone before heading to the gym. We paid 150SEK per person for a one off training session. This is a very reasonable price for a quality gym, and it includes a shower. When we come back to Östersund we will definitely return to this gym. There’s also plenty of parking outside the gym. Also a coffee machine if you need an extra caffeine boost! My girlfriend and I highly recommend this place.
I had probably my best ever vegan burger here! The black bean burger was so delicious, and the chips that came with the burger were also very yummy! The staff were also very helpful and informative. We had a very enjoyable walk to the lake.
