I am still in shock after the treatment that my elderly relative and I received at Synsam Sickla. He is ill, uses a wheelchair and it is difficult to find times when it works for him to get out to an optician. Now we had managed to find an appointment that worked but when we got there we were told that the appointment had been cancelled! No one had contacted us about it. The optician's assistant claimed that they had sent a message to a number that they had in the register, but of course they should have contacted us on the number we provided when we made the booking, which they had not. Instead there was great confusion because the optician's assistant did not have a booking, she thought we were someone else, turned the computer screen and showed us another customer's social security number and other personal information and asked if it was us. In the end we understood that it was because my relative is 76 and optician's assistants cannot receive elderly customers, only opticians can do that, she claimed. The booking was made on synsam.se and we then filled in our personal identification number so Synsam knew about our age, but the booking went through anyway. I asked the optician's assistant to still receive us and take the situation into account, that we could have a regular examination today and possibly come back for a supplementary examination at another time. She refused to do this, did not apologize for the mistake with the text message but instead became irritated. I tried to find a solution when one of my relative's pairs of glasses had broken and asked if we could at least order a new pair according to the old prescription. I then asked if she, as an optician's assistant, could do it or if the optician also had to be involved, which she interpreted as me questioning her competence and that I had an "attitude"! She said that she would not refuse to help me if I did not "change my attitude", which she did. When I showed her the glasses and asked if she could place an order for the same lenses and frames, she said she couldn't because she didn't have access to the prescription, even though my relative had had previous eye exams at Synsam. She simply refused to help us! I have never been treated so badly in healthcare or by store staff in my entire life. And this while my relative pays (until today) 5000 SEK a year to Synsam for their outrageously expensive subscription...

Jag är fortfarande i chock efter bemötandet som jag och min äldre släkting fick på Synsam Sickla. Han är sjuk, sitter i rullstol och det är svårt att hitta tider när det fungerar för honom att ta sig ut till en optiker. Nu hade vi lyckats …
