Fairly good but a bit pricy. But that was expected. Friendly staff with a focus on making the guest feeling welcome. We ordered a club sandwich and a shrimp sandwich tha was over the average in taste and presentation. However it took some time to get them. I recommend to pre-book your table ahead. Overall good visit.

The food is the true star here: fresh, flavorful, and obviously crafted with care. You could almost hear a chorus of angels with each bite—if you could hear anything over the cacophony, that is. The ambiance makes a valiant attempt at sophistication, only to be betrayed by an ever-buzzing hive of patrons and a decibel level that has you reaching for earplugs. If you're into cozy, intimate dinners, you might want to look elsewhere; this place packs 'em in like it's Black Friday at a discount store. And let's talk about the staff. Imagine a chicken running around without its head and you'll get the picture. Not rude, just bewilderingly disorganized. Ordering a simple dish felt like solving a Rubik's Cube blindfolded. The pricing? Expect to shell out more than you'd think reasonable for this level of chaos. It's like buying a first-class ticket and getting seated in the middle row, between a crying baby and a snorer. In a nutshell, Steninge Bruk could be fantastic. But until they solve their Jekyll-and-Hyde personality—gourmet kitchen meets college frat party—I can't go higher than two stars. They've mastered the art of cuisine, now they just need to work on the "rest" in "restaurant."

Located in the heart of Gotland's ruggedly beautiful, windswept terrain, Bungenäs Kalkladan boasts an enviable setting. The restaurant has immense potential to be an outstanding culinary landmark, given its prime location. Unfortunately, during my visit, it failed to fully capitalize on this opportunity, offering an experience that, while not entirely negative, was regrettably lukewarm. To begin with, the menu at Bungenäs Kalkladan is disappointingly unadventurous. Given its unique geographic locale, I had anticipated a creative showcase of local produce, indigenous flavours, and innovative culinary techniques. Regrettably, the menu lacked excitement, teetering on the edge of commonplace and monotony. While there is nothing wrong with simplicity, a dash of inventiveness would elevate the experience, making it a gastronomic reflection of the stunning surroundings. Regarding the service, I found the staff lukewarm at best, lacking the vivacity and welcoming demeanor that one would expect from an establishment of this potential caliber. An enthusiastic, friendly, and attentive service can transform even a mundane dining experience into a memorable one. Sadly, the staff seemed to oscillate between brief bouts of friendliness and longer spells of indifference, leaving us feeling somewhat uncared for and underappreciated. Moreover, the price point at Bungenäs Kalkladan didn't quite match the experience. With the current offerings, it seemed a touch too ambitious. The overall experience didn't provide the value one would expect for the premium prices charged. Guests are willing to pay a premium for an exceptional experience, but sadly, Bungenäs Kalkladan did not deliver in this regard. On the interior front, the design left much to be desired. I had anticipated an interior that would complement the breathtaking exterior landscape, perhaps with a rustic, Scandinavian aesthetic or a contemporary homage to the surrounding nature. Regrettably, the interior felt uninspiring, not quite meeting the standard set by its magnificent setting. It's disappointing when a restaurant that harbors such potential falls short. Bungenäs Kalkladan, with its awe-inspiring backdrop, has all the ingredients to offer a compelling dining experience. Sadly, it seems like a half-hearted endeavor, lacking the passion and commitment to craft a truly memorable culinary journey. The frustration lies not in what Bungenäs Kalkladan is, but rather, in the stunning destination it could potentially become. The hope remains that the management will take heed and elevate their game to match the incredible canvas they've been blessed with. Until then, Bungenäs Kalkladan remains an experience of missed opportunities.
Review of Restaurant Bolaget, Visby Stepping over the threshold of Restaurant Bolaget, located in the vibrant Stora Torget in Visby, I am once again met with an atmosphere that manages to balance rustic charm with sophisticated elegance. I've dined at this restaurant twice in the past 24 months, and I can confidently say that the experience was as outstanding both times. A significant contributing factor to the restaurant's prominent character is its unique concept of combining haute French, that is, French cuisine at its most advanced level, with local Gotlandic ingredients. This idea gives a new twist to French cuisine, inviting guests on a journey through a fusion of flavors, where French finesse and Gotlandic robustness meet. The restaurant has an outdoor seating area facing the square, providing a fantastic view of the bustling life in Visby. Even though it's a popular spot, you don't need to worry about not being able to enjoy your meal in peace. They have skillfully managed to create a secluded atmosphere despite the square's pulsating life. Another prominent feature is their wine selection. Restaurant Bolaget offers a rich and diversified range of wines, carefully selected to complement their fantastic menu. The wine list is both extensive and impressive, with everything from world-famous wines to hidden gems from lesser-known wine regions. Here, you can enjoy white, red, rosé, and sparkling wines, as well as a selection of dessert wines. Furthermore, the prices are reasonable, making the wine experience even more satisfying. In terms of food, I highly recommend trying their beef fillet in red wine sauce and their lamb fillet with root vegetables. The beef fillet is perfectly cooked, tender and flavorful, further enhanced by the rich red wine sauce. The lamb fillet was equally impressive, full of deep, rich flavors and perfectly complemented by the rustic root vegetables. I have enjoyed these dishes on both of my visits to the restaurant, and the quality has been consistent. Despite its sophisticated offerings, the prices at Bolaget are very reasonable. You really get the feeling of value for your money, making the whole experience even more enjoyable. Finally, the environment and atmosphere are extraordinary. The staff is warm and inviting, and the ambiance is very pleasant, with a nice balance of Gotlandic and French reflected in both the decor and menu. In summary, Restaurant Bolaget is a real gem in Visby. It offers a unique and memorable experience for all senses, where high-class cooking is combined with a beautiful setting, excellent service, and an extraordinary range of delicious wines. Its consistent quality, despite my visits at different times, makes me confident that I can strongly recommend it to anyone in Visby looking for an unforgettable dining experience.

To be in Visby without experiencing dinner at Kasai is to make a big mistake. You may be wondering why? The answer is simple and straightforward. Kasai, run by Carina and Charlotte Österholm who have a heart for Japanese food, has succeeded with a welcoming modern environment that offers a culinary exciting and innovative version of an otherwise quite traditional Japanese cuisine. I do recommend their Omakase to get a good sense of what the kitchen has to offer. You can not help but feel surprised, satisfied, and well treated. A good recipe to get us as customers to return. And yes I will return. Next time maybe in the spring, on their terrace with something cooling in my hand. Hope you do the same.
If you ever want to experience good quality Swedish Christmas food, i strongly recommend Långbro Värdshus. Chef Fredrik Eriksson and crew have a fantastic "Julbord" with a wide range of delicacies that not only makes your taste buds feast but it is a cosy experience for your eyes and your soul. Very kid friendly and the staff is super service minded. Amongst all the variety of Christmas food Chef Fredrik Eriksson surprises us with Långbro specialities and versions of the usually very traditional swedish Christmas food. Don't miss out on this gem.
After waiting for a long time. We got over cooked bulgur. The lamb was over grilled and did not give any suprices at all. How ever the staff was friendly. But with the ingredients present this could have been much better. Sadly not today.
