A pretty decent place if you're looking for asian cuisine. I was a bit disappointed that you can't get the set menu for just one person although I understand the logistics of why. Instead I tried a couple of small dishes and a cocktail. The Bao buns were ok but nothing special, the aubergine stew was pretty interesting. The Yuzu Sour I got would have been the highlight - a very bright (flavor) and pretty drink, unfortunately the glass it came in was a bit broken to the extent that pieces of glass was coming off it. The staff was very nice about taking it back and replacing the glass, however the replacement drink was noticeably less well made, as if done in a hurry and without any effort. Price wise it's also pretty expensive for what you get.

First of all, the food here is absolutely amazing. Their bao buns are hands down the best I've had, anywhere. I happen to really like bao buns and so they are naturally what I tend to get if a restaurant has them. Because of that I've tried a whole lot of them. Jinx does them at least a level above the next best option. Their menu is very limited which I actually like a lot. I'd rather see a few dishes done to perfection than a whole bunch done adequately. Now, the place itself is very small, cramped and all table surfaces have this sticky kind of beer hall feeling to them. It can also get very loud inside. Their selection of beers have been kind of disappointing to be honest. I still haven't found one I really enjoyed. And I like beer. Service is...serviceable. However, again, the food! I come here at least twice a month just for the bao buns. If I only considered the food as part of my review it would be the easiest 5 stars I've given.

A cozy place that serves really good food and wine. I've been here several times and the food has mostly been excellent. They regularly change their menu and not all items have been as good but mostly the food has been spot on. They also have a great selection of wines by the glass. Both food and wine is very expensive but considering the quality I think the prices are pretty fair. The service has been a bit hit or miss. Sometimes it feels like they just don't want more customers that day so they can be a bit snarky. Especially if you go there just to have a glass of wine. They seem to not like smaller groups that aren't going to eat. I kind of get it in terms of profit margin etc but in that case maybe they should only allow booking and have a minimum number of people per table. The noise levels can also get pretty high at times. Other times it has been just fine. Overall the food and wine are great but the rest can be a bit rough around the edges.

Some of the best food served in Umeå coupled with a nice and minimalist interior makes Tonka Strandgatan worth a visit. The food is very well put together and the ingredients simple but very high quality. Unfortunately at the time of this visit the service was a bit so-so. Staff that seemed very new or inexperienced and some questionable choice of glassware and tableware took down the experience somewhat. The placement of tables also made it difficult to get in and out of the seats, making the entire place feel a bit cramped. The wines were fine but nothing special. We also had pre-dinner cocktails, one of which were very nice; called Jalla Jalla with mezcal and chili. We were all very happy with our food so overall it was definitely worth a visit.

Located in the cellar of Rex, Rådhuskällaren offers an awesome atmosphere coupled with very nice food and high quality drinks. They have a large selection of beers and wines and very competent bartenders who don't back down from a challenge. The cheese platter was excellent and they had some really interesting beers like one tasting of smoked ham. Definitely a must to visit when in town.

A very small and cozy place that can be a bit hard to find. Once there though, you are rewarded with a nice and friendly atmosphere coupled with tons of coffee expertise. Asking for recommendations is encouraged and will probably result in a better experience. The espresso made from single origin beans from Ethiopia was by far the best in town for someone who is interested in specialty coffee. Highly recommended.

Anständig mat till ett anständigt pris. Lokalerna är mycket snyggt inredda, minimalistiska men funktionella. Restaurangen själv var väldigt tyst vilket jag personligen tycker om. Jag hade Char Siu och det gjorde ingen besviken. Om du gillar koreansk eller vietnamesisk mat kommer du förmodligen att gilla detta.
