Det var en trevlig upplevelse. Det regnade så vi ville ha en inomhusaktivitet. Även om det är litet har museet lagt ner så mycket möda på att skapa olika rum där man känner att tiden står stilla. Man får lära sig om den tidsperioden och …

We stayed at Sundbyholms Slott AB as an unforeseen solution. While it met the basic needs for a short stay, I would not recommend it as a destination in itself. Food and Dining The breakfast was too basic and not very appealing. Dinner was better, with a very tasty risotto and an enjoyable dessert. However, the starter was a buffet with cold items that did not match the quality or style of the other courses. The wine was served far too warm, although staff replaced it with chilled bottles without hesitation when we pointed it out. Despite this, the dinner felt overpriced for what was offered. Location and Surroundings The castle building is only used for breakfast and dinner and does not offer rooms. The nearby port with boats adds a bit of charm, but aside from that, there is little to do. The water is accessible for swimming, though we did not find the atmosphere very inviting. The nearby town also does not have the best reputation, so we chose not to visit it for restaurants. Service and Rooms Reception staff were practical but not especially friendly. There is a small area with free coffee and water, which was a nice touch. The room was small but had the basic essentials. Free parking is available. Overall Sundbyholms Slott AB is suitable as a short stop between destinations, but not ideal for a longer or more engaging stay. The experience was functional rather than memorable.
Sikfors Herrgård is located in a beautiful and peaceful setting. From the moment you arrive, you are welcomed by a very friendly and helpful owner who truly goes the extra mile to make your stay enjoyable. The rooms are located in a separate building. Ours was spacious and had everything we needed, except for a mini fridge. It was a bit warm due to a heatwave, and because of the many mosquitoes, we didn’t feel comfortable leaving the windows open at night. The beds were not the most comfortable, but the room itself was practical and pleasant. In the evening, we were lucky to spot a fox running across the garden, which added to the charm. The main building, especially the garden, is lovely. The view is fantastic and really adds to the relaxing atmosphere. Dinner was very tasty, made with local ingredients, and reasonably priced. I truly enjoyed it. The same goes for the breakfast, which was prepared with care and high-quality local products. It was one of the best breakfasts of our trip. The owner also helped us plan our hikes and took time to adjust her recommendations to the weather and our preferences. This personal touch was greatly appreciated. As a bonus, they serve their own apple juice, which was delicious. I definitely recommend Sikfors Herrgård. It’s a place where you feel welcomed and cared for, and you will not regret staying here.
Dashi delivers an exceptional dining experience that goes far beyond the expectations of a one-star Michelin restaurant. From the moment you step inside, you are transported into an izakaya-inspired atmosphere. Guests are seated at a bar-like table on high stools, creating an intimate and immersive setting where each course is prepared freshly before your eyes. While Dashi remains deeply rooted in Japanese tradition, they make clever and respectful use of local Swedish ingredients. They use locally sourced fish and even craft their own miso paste without using soybeans. Every dish is visually stunning and meticulously balanced in flavor. The sake pairing elevates the experience even further. Each sake is thoughtfully matched to the course and brings something completely different to the table. The staff not only serve but truly know their products. They even share stories about the sake breweries they have personally visited in Japan, which adds a meaningful layer to the evening. The team is incredibly friendly and authentic, striking that rare balance between professional and personal. Even the toilet is part of the experience. Though I will not spoil the surprise, just be aware that if you have limited mobility, the layout might be a bit challenging. As someone who has visited Japan and works for a Japanese company, I can confidently say Dashi captures the spirit, precision, and warmth of true Japanese hospitality and cuisine. I would return without hesitation.
