I had an awful experience at Tandhälsovården. After the initial examination by the dentist, it turned out that there are "only" two teeth with cavity. One of the cavities was under a crown on a tooth that previously had a root canal. The dentist assured me that she could easily remove the crown, fix the minor cavity beneath, and reseat the crown, and even emphasized that there is no major damage to the tooth underneath and the procedure of removing the crown and refitting it would also address its looseness as the crown was a little bit loss. She confidently said that it would be a straightforward procedure and would be done in roughly 20 minutes. When she attempted to pull the crown out, the tooth underneath was "broken" due to applying "improper excessive force". Then, she started making excuses that the tooth was broken previously, and she did not make any mistakes. This is in direct contrast to what she said previously, that the tooth underneath has only a minor cavity. Finally, she mentioned that she could not even bond the broken tooth and that the repair would require multiple additional sessions and cost "substantially" more, ranging between 7000 to 10000 sek. Afterward, I approached the clinic's head hoping to receive a responsible response. The clinic head—"without even apologizing"—repeated the same excuses. It became abundantly clear that her primary intent was not my well-being but rather to "protect the image of her clinic". If the tooth beneath my crown had previously been broken, why didn't the dentist inform me during our initial appointment? Dental X-rays would typically highlight significant breaks or damages in a tooth. A crown can become loose for various reasons, including the crown itself having a poor fit or the cement used to bond it could be wearing off. But she did not want to accept these reasons as I became a cost for her clinic. They handed me my broken tooth and the removed crown and just told me to do what I needed to do. I trusted them for a simple procedure and ended up with complications and added costs. Now, I face the prospect of spending 7000–10000 sek for repairs, whereas it could be resolved with 1000-1500 sek if the dentist was more patient and exercised a proper technique. The broken tooth also affects my daily activities, causing discomfort when I eat and speak. This is not just about a broken tooth but about the breach of trust that came with it. I wanted to share my experience so others are aware. It's hard to trust a clinic that doesn't take responsibility for their actions or care about the well-being of their patients. Interestingly, the police officers in the area showed their sympathy with me. And indirectly mentioned "why did you come here?" Additionally, to my dismay, I noticed the clinic head publicly disclosed my personal information in their response. This behavior is not only unprofessional but raises serious concerns about privacy and respect for patients.
