An honest review from a Dutch customer Brought in my car (MB 300GD ‘80 with an OM605.960) in for a repair/replacement of the gearbox on sept. 26th and picked it up on nov 18th. Overall I’m satisfied with the result of the repairs.. so 4/5 but I have some points of concern about this garage that I think others should be aware of: > It took them a full week to figure out what engine was in the car, even though they could’ve 1) asked me - which they didn’t, 2) looked up the engine/gearbox code on the part itself; > I was charged for the hours they spent looking into the parts for the wrong engine.., don’t know if this is common practice??; > I regularly needed to ask them for updates myself; > They ordered a clutch kit that didn’t fit, which slowed down the whole process. Could've been prevented by matching the right OEM numbers but mistakes can happen. Didn't get charged for the wrong parts so all good; > A month after bringing in the car I took matters in my own hands and ordered all necessary parts myself - to speed up the process and make sure the garage wouldn’t order the wrong parts; --> I have to mention that once I took up the responsibility to look for parts myself, they were very helpful and cooperative. so Kuddos for that. > Brought all the necessary parts in on nov 6th but had to wait for the car to be fixed on nov 17th - as they were busy changing tires for the winter season.. which was somewhat annoying if your car has already been there for a while; > I didn’t get updated when one replacement part was faulty.. instead, I found out I got charged 3x the original price of that part when I received the final bill - as they put in another one themselves. Maybe this is all just typical ‘garage practice’, but it frustrated me from time to time. The lack of communication might also be a Swedish thing. To conclude: Nothing personal as all the staff I spoke to are very nice but communication could be better from time to time. The car got fixed eventually, and I haven’t experienced problems since, so kudos to the mechanics. Just be prepared that everything can take a while if you have a bigger repair/replacement scheduled - especially if you come in during the changing-to-winter-tires time haha. Will I go here again? Yes. 4/5
