The Gourmet Garden is really inconsistent — sometimes it’s good, but today was definitely not one of those days. We ordered two different dishes, one fish and one chicken, and both were dreadful. The flavour combinations felt random and didn’t work together at all. My dish even had a handful of dead, blackened mint leaves that no chef should ever send out of a kitchen. The salad dressing tasted like it was made with some odd, flavourless oil, and even the butter was whipped into a strange, airy fluff. Overall, the whole meal felt like an attempt at being creative or refined, but without the fundamentals in place. They would do far better by simplifying their cooking and serving style and focusing on getting the basics right, rather than trying to do something complicated and doing it very wrong.
