In hind sight this question should have warned me of possible trouble, but what did I know at that moment??? I am not a vet. Then I had to go weigh my horse myself, write down his weight on his halter tag, and leave him in a box. At no time did I meet a vet or any other vet. practitioner. They did not check him in my presence to see his health status when I dropped him off. He was super fine, by the way. No pain anywhere. Long story shorter, in spite of knowing that some horses have difficult and therefore dangerous recoveries, they did not have any supporting ropes around him ready to stabilize him as he woke up in a panic and proceeded to hurt himself. So I now have a horse in worse condition with a long recovery ahead of him. Loss of time, money, and peace of mind. I know that accidents happen, but what really, really ticks me off, is that we horse owners are constantly vigilant about possible dangers, removing hooks from walls, sticks and stones from paths, taking off halters in pasture, etc. and this clinic, knowing the possible side effects, couldn't even do the minimum of having security rigging for recovery. You should be ashamed of that.

Our horse went in with an upper leg and came out with what veterinarian Andrea said was a broken gluteal ligament, which they also claimed had chronic inflammation! But according to a highly regarded equine veterinarian from another clinic, who examined our horse a week later, she had neither damage nor inflammation to her gluteal ligament! Just a sore upper leg that needed a few more weeks. So from being terribly sad, scared and given a rehabilitation period of 6-12 months, maybe even 24 months, which would eventually lead to a walking horse, at most, to a total of 8 weeks of rest with continued infirmary and walking and then starting to jog again, was such a relief but also a terrible roller coaster that no one should have to go through! We are happy that our horse is healthy and fresh, but horrified that they also tried to twist and turn the diagnosis. In the end, it ended up that they still stand by their diagnosis, according to chief veterinarian Skärlina! But the horse is healthy! This is a scandal! We do not recommend you go here. Not even to vaccinate! The guy who was the "nurse" was worth his weight in gold. So kind, nice, supportive and great with our horse.
